G Sensor (Rough Road Sensor) Voltage Low

G Sensor (Rough Road Sensor) Voltage High

Anyone know what the heck this sensor is and where it is located and where I can get one. My truck wont pass inspection because of the Check Engine Light...everything else works perfectly.

Vehicle in question is a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo LS with 3.2L 6 Cylinder 5-speed 2-wheel drive.

Default g sensor problem

This response contains two (2) solutions, one for your vehicle and another for a honda. Looks like the world of copying technology has been reached. Note question was asked in 2006

Found this by searching on google with: what is a rough road sensor ?

Thats the G sensor.

Circuit Description
The Gravity (G) sensor is a vertical low-g (gravity) acceleration sensor. By sensing vertical acceleration caused by bumps or potholes in the road, the powertrain control module (PCM) can determine if the changes in crank- shaft speed are due to engine misfire or are driveline induced. If the G sensor detects a rough road condition, the PCM misfire detection diagnostic will be de-activated. The G sensor at rest output should be between 2.35 - 2.65 volts (+1G). During a rough road conditio, the voltage output can vary between 0.5 volt (-1G) and 4.5 volts (+3G).

Conditions for Setting the DTC

Engine running.
No vehicle speed.
G sensor signal indicates greater than 2.5 volts (+1G) or less than 1.5 volts (0G) for one minute.
-OR-
Vehicle speed is between 30 mph and 80 mph (50 km/h and 132 km/h).
G sensor signal changes more than .0002 volts each tenth of a second (changing faster than physically possible).

It's mounted in a bracket on the frame .I'm fairly certain it's on the Right rear of your rodeo underneath on the frame rail behind the tire. It's a dealer only item and it should be diagnosed before replacement as there may be a circuit problem and not the sensor itself at fault. There must have been a code in the ECM P1391 maybe??

--------------
I have a 1997 honda passport 3.2 liter V-6 that is reading a P1392 code which according to the honda specific codes is a G-sensor low voltage

What is a G-sensor I know that it is a missfire but it doesn't seem to be missfireing also I know that it has something to do with the ignition system

if anyone can help me please do so i must get this issue resolved

=============

yes the author of the p1392 G-sensor here,I have answered my own question and for anyone else needing help with this not even honda could tell me what or where this thing is.

It is located under the body near the evaporater canister on a rolled tube crossmember on the passenger rear just above the axle you can easily remove it by removing the tire

It is a rough road shock sensor and if you have to go to honda to get it have them look up the part under O2 sensors or the parts guy might start to hate you. By the way the 1 1/2 inch square sensor only costs 101.52 but i got mine from the yard for 15.00 so the choice is yours

happy trouble codeing
