I just finished a complete overhaul on a '90 2WD Isuzu Pickup, 4EZ1 w/automatic for my grandson. Rather expensive for my taste though! I called myself going through and cleaning the intake and EGR system BUT, my idle is terrible. I set the timing @ 12 degrees BTDC, as per specs on hood, and the RPM @ 950. Cranks up and idles around 650, most of the time, and will hunt up to 1500. The timing will advance to 20-22degrees BTDC. I started working on VWs in '60 and integrated Japanese and Brisish cars in late '70s. This is the first time I've had a problem this bad since the EFI on the earlt type 3 VWs. I'm missing something somewhere....what is it? At 62, retired and disabled, my CRS may be catching up on me. Thanks for the help.......... |
It seems that the new term for this problem is "Rev and Drop". Good, it seems to explain the problem a bit clearer. I understand that there are an assortment of solutions only a problem in finding the correct one. I'm determined not to succumb to the high dollar "scan check", unless it's the only solution. .....Did the terminology change jar anyones "thinker" ??? |
