98 amigo 05-09-2005 06:23 PM

i have already searched the forum, briefly, and i didnt see a topic about this so i figured i could ask. when starting up the amigo (98 small 4 cylinder) i have noticing a strong fuel odor. I was wondering what could be causing this. It is only a t startup and after runnign for a few minutes it goes away. I was wondering if anyone had experienced this and has a sloution or may know what is causing it. Leaky injector or something. The amigo is not showing a cel and i dont know much about isuzu's. I would appreciate any help with this you could provide............

Similar issue

I am hving a similar issue with my 99 V6. When parked in a garage the garage will have a strong fuel smell. When the car is left outside the garage smells just fine.

The issue started after a fuel leak to one of the hoses to to fuel rail let go. The shop removed the fuel rail & replaced the Oring seals on the injectors & both lines going to the rail. After that is when the smell started, brought it back a second time and they replaced the fuel regular and the fuel filter. This still did not fix the fuel smell. Brought it back a 3rd time and they checked all the fuel lines going to the tank, replaced the gas cap and put a smoke machine on it for about 30 minutes.

The only place the smoke escaped from was the breather at the rear of the Amigo and they said this was normal. the injectors were reinspected as well as the fuel tank for leaks and rot holes.

Any input would be great seeing how it seems we have run out of things to check.
