Default Electrical problems with 2000 Rodeo

I've got a 2000 V6 front wheel Rodeo, and since replacing the battery I've noticed that there has been a problem with the electrics. The power to the instruments and the stereo seems to be flickering on and off. I've re-tightened the battery clamp and the battery cables and this seems to still be happening. Anyone have any ideas?

Unrelated, but possibly related is the fact that my CHECK ENGINE light has been on for some time. However, I haven't noticed any problems before, and as I stated, the change that seems to have kicked this problem off was when I changed the battery.

Any help would be appreciated.

Get a new electrician. It might be the breaker or the circuit itself has shorted. The latter could cause a fire but probably isn't the case, as this should have caused the breaker to trip. An experienced and competent electrician should be able to diagnose the issue. It may also be one of the appliances plugged into the circuit is causing the issue.
