My sisters 3.2 Rodeo is acting a little weird. After driving for about 20-30 min. its starts to stumble and then dies. I have changed the fuel filter, plugs, wires, checked fuel pressure. The check engine light is on, and around here, diagnostics cost a fortune. I have a sneaky suspicion that its the EGR. I also am considering breaking it open and throwing a timing belt on there with a new tensioner. Any help on this problem would be appreciated even though I know I am being vague.

yes you are being too vague.what was the fuel pressure when it dies?if it runs fine for 20-30mins...then acts up it wont be the timing belt.my 1st guess it possibly a clogged catalytic converter.when they get hot thats when they act up.big power loss funny drown sound,or bogging sound.or faulty fuel pump.check fuel psi when its acting up.it should stay around 45 psi on that engine.

My 95 wouldnt idle, and it turned out to be a bad spedo gear, no vehicle speed input to the pcm. You definately need to scan this thing first.Try taking out the IAC motor and cleaning it, also clean the backside of the throttle plate as well. Use brake parts cleaner. Also try checking for vacuum leaks. Hope this helps.
