Hello all, I'm new here. I am just coming out of a bad relationship with
Chrysler Corp. and am eyeballing the Isuzu Axioms. Since I first laid eyes
on
them, I have liked them. I have the opportunity to buy one at a reasonable
price now and am wondering if that's a mistake or a good idea. I have
been
reading around the internet and saw that 9 out of 10 Axioms need a
transmission replaced at one time or another. Is that an exaggerated
myth
or true? I'd hate to buy it (it's got 70,000 miles on it, 2002 model) and
have
it pull a Dodge on me. [img]smileys/smiley19.gif[/img]

What are some typical problems with these vehicles? I read through the
Axiom forum but info seemed to be sparse.

Also, what platform is the Axiom based on? Is it something all its own or
is it based on the Trooper or Rodeo, or something else?

One more thing... Is the 3.5L V6 an Isuzu unit or the GM 3.5L pushrod
unit? I know that Isuzu engines tend to run forever and a day and GM
engines "run bad longer than most engines run." What kind of power does
it put down? Is it fairly quick or lethargic?

The only issue I've found with the Axiom, and Isuzu in general from all the local owners I've spoken too, is that they all consume oil! Besides keeping a close eye on your oil level, they are great trucks! I switched to a heavier weight oil to help slow the oil consumption problem!

Fule pressure sensor usually go bad alot, and a wierd transmission seal in the side of the transmissions go bad alot (cheap fix at local shop if ya catch it fast enough.
