So I have a case of mysterious vanishing Coolant! For the past few months I''ve been noticing that my coolant has been on the low side, so I''ve been topping it off, but haven''''t noticed any coolant left of the ground! Well, just the other night as I was driving to the pharmacy my check Check TOD light started flashing, and then the Check Engine like came on. I pulled to the side of the road, shut the vehicle off for a few minutes and started it up again, this time only the Check Engine light was on, so I dropped the truck off at the mechanics the next morning! The mechanic pressure tested the coolant systems to find no leaks. So they then decided to check the trouble codes. There was no code for anything pertaining to the Check TOD but they did read P1340. So they changed the spark plugs and while doing so... SURPRISE! They found where my coolant has been going! While pulling the boot from the right bank, middle spark plug, there was the coolant, which caused the misfire! So the question I have is do I have a cracked head? or is it just a head gasket? The mechanic has been doing this for 30 years and said never has he pulled a spark plug to find coolant, oil, yes but coolant, no! Edited by: Axiom35RT79 |
