Should I buy an Amigo?
Okay, I have to admit I have a love affair with this vehicle. Ever since I saw a white one in my small town back around 1992, I fell in love with the look. And now I am older and can financially afford to drive what I want, I am thinking about getting one of these as a fun, drive-around-town, 4-wheeling kind of toy.
I am hearing that dealerships have almost closed down, and in fact, I checked and the only one in my state is, luckily, only about 40 miles away. Not wonderful, but at least it's somewhat accessible. I've also heard they break down a lot and have reliability problems. I have a great mechanic who can do most things I need, although he is limited on some vehicles, like Volvo for instance. So I guess I am wondering what people think of their reliability... is it as bad as I hear? Will my mechanic be able to work on pretty much any part of this vehicle?
I'd love to hear any thoughts, really. Just throw it out there. It's appreciated.
