What type of gas milage does a 4x4 6 cylamigo get compared to a 4cyl amigo,ps do they make a 4x4 4cyl .I am in the market of buying one, my wife has a 6 cylrodeo 4x4

THe 4 x 4 6 cyl is supposed to get between 20-24 mpg depending on type of driving, city/hwy. They do not make a factory 4 x4 4 cyl but I recently purchaced one. It was a factory stock 3.6 liter and was swapped with a 2.2L which I think was a botched job because I've been getting between 14-19 mpg. Hope that helps.

my 94 4x4 2.6L is also a gas guzzler. i am getting less than 20 mpg. i put new air filter and i am thinking about replacing the fuel filter. it doesn't accelerate smoothly. you kind of feel like there is some restriction on fuel system. what is your tune up suggestin to improve fuel milage? thanks

My '92 2wd has actually seen 28 mpg on a 500 mile trek. I average 20 city and 24 hwy butit's relatively low mileage for it's age...like 126,000. I change the fuel filter every other oil change, use injector cleanout every 4 or 5 fillups and don't drive to fast since fuel costs on a 500 mile trip average more than my insurance payment. Regular maintenance and easy driving are the best way for descent mileage.

What kinda tires are ya runnin? ammigoo guy. Think I'm running stock size, 235's coopers that are good for up to 50psi cold. I usually run about 40 to 45 psi. Supposeddly a rougher ride but I've never ridden in an amigo with a smooth ride. I recently pulled off my gas tank, it had sat for 7 years previous to me gettin' it, and cleaned the hell outta it. Mineral spirits up to the top, complete flush. Before I reinstalled it I used compressed air and clean gas to flush all the lines up to the fuel rail. New injectors cost about 250 a piece, but if all else fails there's always that option. I noticed the one time that I had the top off so far is when I actually got 28 mpg on the hwy at 65mph. To cold to test it again but soon it'll be warm enough to take it off and test the mileage out some more topless. Good luck. Also, not sure if this matters but mine is a California truck. Not sure if they had stricter emissions back then but if so could be the reason for the mileage since it would probably be a de-tuned engine.

My Isuzu Amigo V6, 4x4 only performs at 16 MPG city or less. I thought that was normal.

I bought it with 23k miles, 5 years ago and the gas mileage hasn't changed much.

My 94 2.6= 14-17 MPG

98 3.2 = 18-22

I blame it on the fact that the 2.6 didnt have enough power to get out of its own way.

Hey everybody. Just bought an Amigo 4cyl 2wd 5spd. Haven''t had it on the road yet as it doesn''t run but once I do I will be probably doing some mods to get the fuel mileage up. I have a Dodge Neon that I improved from about 28 mpg average to 32 mpg and I plan to do the same with the Amigo. I was reading that they have a 4.78:1 rear end ratio which is absolutely obsurd. If my calculations are correct a 3.73:1 ratio should work well and give a nice bump in mileage without killing the drivability. Also will be making a cold air intake, swapping in a high flow catalytic converter, oxygen sensor spacers, and hydrogen generator. I will keep everyone updated on my improvements....once I get it running in the first place that is

My 1998 4 cyl 4x2 got about 24 mpg highway before the head gasket went out. I haven''t fixed it yet. My 1998 6 cyl 4x4 gets a miserable 15-16 mpg highway with a k&n air filter and iridium spark plugs, but I just replaced both pre cat O2 sensors, so hopefully that helps. Next step, getting my 4 wheel drive to actually work and not just blink.

yetisoldier 02-06-2009 11:49 AM

update: replacing the O2 sensors actually dropped my mileage to 14 mpg. :( at least the check engine light went out. Now I have to work out why the drop.
