Hello,

I'm about to purchase a 2000 amigo v6 4x4 Automatic. I test drove it and found something that I though was unusual. I though I would ask the experts here before I run off froma good deal. When I allelerate or come to a stop I feel something like the transmission engaging and disengaging gears. It's more prominent than I'm used to but it would be because it's a truck, not the car I'm used to. Is it normal to feel this when you start going and when you come to a stop? What elase should I look for? It seems that the trans is a sealed unit as it does not have a dipstic, only for the oil. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Much.....

I also have a 2000 V6 Amigo and am experiencing this same symptom. This is most likely a drive line issue. First I thought it was anti-lock brake or then low leaking transmission fluid ora u-joint, but since Ibroughtit to a driveline shop and they said that it may be from my one piece drive line (stock was two) that is too long and you get that jerk sometimes on acceleration sometimes when coming to a stop. They did not guarentee this would solve the problem, but this is what they saw as the possible problem. Anyway have the drive line checked out. I was quoted about $250 to take the drive line out, shorten it, put on new u-joint (one piece drive line)with grease fittings (stock ones do not have and are not serviceable) R/R. I will be taking it in shortly to have this done. This has been going on since I have had the vehicle. Good luck with yours, I really like it. By the way as you said prior the transmission is sealed. I recommend having the transmission levels checked, and see if the fluid isnot burnt, for that cost me a rebuilt a dayafter I purchased the Amigo after the trans light came on.
