HELP!!! I recently changed the alternator in my 3.2 V6 93 Trooper. After the first day I started hearing feedback of engine noise and gears thru radio intermittently. Within 3 days it is full blown and no suppression of motor noise so radio is just getting feedback with station way in background. What has happened?? I got the alternator at AutoZone and called the manufacturer to verify correct number. Has A/C so got the 75amp. NUmber matched the number on old alternator.

I changed my alt in my 94 and had it fail the next day, and had to replace it again. I suggest that you check the main terminal to make sure it is not in contact with any other metal and the rubber boot is covering it correctly. Other than that, if that is the only change, I would only be guessing. Try the audio forum here on the site and ask there too. Good luck

I couldn't begin to guess why it happened, but if all else fails you could try a noise filter. It wires inline with the main power wire going into your radio. I put one in a Scout once and it worked. I bought mine at Radio Shack, but that was like ten years ago and I don't know if they would still sell it. Here is an online example, but you can probably pick one up at your local car stereo store : http://www.crutchfield.com/S-CZ0FiBA...roduct/group/p roductmenu.aspx?g=181150
