Heater Core for 89 Trooper 2
#1
Can anyone tell me if there is an alternative to replacing the heater core with a stock unit. Maybe something more common that will cost less than the $350 they want for a new one. Something that might drop right in. My mechanical skills are somewhat limited so I can''t alter things much. Any help would be appreicated. I LOVE my trooper but funds are pretty limited.

all heater cores work the same way. the only reason the ones for our troopers are so expensive is how they mount and where they are located. if you could find one out of another rig that was about the same size and had the same size hose fittings it would potentially work. another route is to bypass the heater core and not have heat, thats ok in the summer, it all depends on the climate where you live.

I actually had been driving around last winter and again up until about mid December with no heat...Dude, it SUCKED!!! I live in the KC,Missouri area and it was not fun.

I am having a problem trying to figure out why my heat is not coming on. Fan motor works if put directly on 12 volt battery. Is there a common cause of it not working. The fuse is good. Is there a relay somewhere that could be bad. is the switch box bad. i need some help thanks
