10W30 in the manual tranny case it is.... I hope this helps my issue. Going into second or third in an upshift gives my stick shift a vibration and dull grinding sound. Rarely it goes into gear easily. I have to be forceful... not violent but very direct. 4th and 5th are a snap. Downshifting into second or third is almost not possible. It's as if something is not in synch. My fear is that the gears are ground down which is making this a mess. Wonder if transmission shops can overhaul something as old as this...

most of the shifting problems in these transmissions come from the clutch needing to be bled. It's a very difficult and time consuming task usually, but when fully bled out that usually solves the shifting problems.
