P1326, 01 Rodeo starts hard runs terrible

My service station has been having trouble isolating what is wrong. They have double checked timing, timing belt and checked for sheared cam pins. They checked for leaking intake gasket. They found a couple plugs that were glazed over on one side of the engine, so they replaced plugs, but it made no difference. Now they checked exhaust and dropped it to eliminate plugged catalytic converter being the cause; also no luck. They are getting codes 1312, 1310 and 1326 I believe. Did they use the right spark plugs? With ion sensing the spark plugs are used as sensors and require certain plugs. The proper ones should be listed in your owners manual. I know for denso brand its Denso K16PR-P11. They also list a champion brand one but I have never had any luck with champions. I would start with replacing all the plugs, not just a couple that look glazed, the ion sensing is sensitive and a plug that looks good could be causing the problem.

Circuit Description
The Power Control Module (PCM) checks the validity of
the signals used in the ION Sensing module at the
following engine operating conditions.
 The Deceleration Fuel Cut Off (DFCO) test is
performed to evaluate the Combustion Quality (CQ)
signal pulse width
 If it is below a predetermined value, the value it is
expected to be during DFCO conditions. If the CQ
signal pulse width is above the predetermined
threshold, the fail counter will be incremented. If the
failure counter exceeds the calibration, then the test is
complete and a failure will be reported.
 The Power Enrichment (PE) test is performed to
evaluate the Combustion Quality (CQ) signal pulse
width
 If it is below a predetermined value, the value is
expected to be during PE conditions.
If the CQ signal pulse width is above the
predetermined threshold, the fail counter will be
incremented. If the failure counter exceeds the
calibration, then the test is complete and a failure will
be reported.
 The Combustion Quality (CQ) test is performed to
check if inappropriate (CQ) signal status were
detected. If missing CQ pulses or multiple CQ pulses
or CQ pulse width calculation errors were detected, the
fail counter will be incremented. If the failure counter
exceeds the calibration, then the test is complete and
a failure will be reported.

P1312

Circuit Description
 The Power Control Module (PCM) will compare the
secondary current reading to predetermined maximum
and minimum thresholds.
If the secondary current signal pulse width is out of
the predetermined range, the fail counter will be
incremented. If the fail counter exceeds the
calibration, then the PCM is complete and a failure
will be reported. If the sample counter threshold is
reached before the failure threshold, then the PCM is
complete and pass will be reported.
This PCM will detect an open/short circuit in the
secondary current sense input circuit, misfire on the
entire bank for the secondary current sense input
circuit, coil failure, and same internal Ignition Current
Sense System (ICSS) module faults.

P1326

All plugs were replaced and although I do not know what exactly they used; they made a point to me that the plugs needed were special and it took an extra day to get them. Could an Ion sensing module? suddenly go bad and cause the faulty running or is it simply reporting the poor running conditions?

I have an Ion sensing module on order to arrive next Monday. Has anyone else had one of these go bad and actually cause the poor running condition that I have?

Gizmo42 is right put the Denso plugs in, you probable have misfires on all 6 cylinders also

i know they stated that they put in iridium plugs- not certain if they are denso brand or not. I think there must be something else going on to explain why it went from running just fine one day, to the next morningbarely starting and not being able to continue running. Really weird.

I have a 2000 Rodeo as well with the same problem. At first it started out with my the transmission, so I had that replaced. Then it ran fine for about a year. Sometimes in the mornings when I start it , it kind of starts but I have to turn it back off and then on again. Then the lights on the dash board will stop working. When I drive it , it slams every time the car shifts. I have taken it to several different places to have work done and no one can figure out the problem, and half of them don't believe me that it does that. I have had the plugs changed on mine as well. Sounds like you have quite a collection of problems there. I wonder if you may have a bad wiring harness or grounding problem that may explain the "either it works fine or doesn't work at all" scenarios. About the only thing that I can add is that for a while, when my truck wasa lot newer, it would startup andrunfine, but when I started driving, it would slamand lurch when shifting from 1st to 2nd and so forth on my auto transmission. Also at this time, the check engine light would flash. This would happen quite infrequently so I never had the code checked. But what I noticed, and for some reason it worked for me, was that it seemed every time my tranny did this, it was when I was in a big hurry and took off before all my diagnostic lights had gone out at startup. I got into a habit of just making sure to wait a few seconds for all the dash lights to finish and I have never had the lurching again. At any rate, I will post later on today how my Ion sensing module replacement goes.

Yeah I have tried to be more patient and wait for a little bit longer especially when its cold out, but the other day i had driven all the way across town and put my car in park , but still had it running and when i went to put it back in drive it did it. So it's very silly I have no clue what the deal is. There isn't an Isuzu place in town, so I have to take it to a Japanese Motor Works, and they pretty much think its a joke. My engine light never comes on the dash lights will light up and then it will hit really hard then the lights will all go out!
