Not driven fromApril to August 2006

Previous owner reports transmission rebuilt in Feb 06 by Morris Transmission (confirmed), engine replaced by the owner before him (unconfirmed).

08/06 Broken flex plate replaced
Missing dowel pins installed
Trans breather replaced (melted on exhaust pipe)
Trans breather repositioned to firewall

09/06 Trans fluid and pan gasket replaced by Mr. Transmission, <st1lace w:st="on">Alsip</st1lace>
Throttle position sensor replaced (Standard TH51)
New spark plugs installed (AC Delco 41-629)
Fuel Filter replaced (Purolator F67221)
<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"> [/B]Fuel injector cleaner added to full tank
6 oz Marvel Mystery Oil added to fuel
(No additives in current fuel)

<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">[/B]
<B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">Initial Problem:[/B]

The acceleration was not constant. It would start and run well cold. Within a few blocks of driving it begins to hesitate between starting position through 2500 rpm. When the accelerator pedal was fully depressed it would speed up quickly and smoothly with no delay. Hesitation was constant if the pedal was not fully depressed through all 4 gears between idle and 2500 rpm. It’s only getting about 13 mpg.

I took it to Mancari’s Isuzu, Orland Park, IL 9/22, Tech Rick Rohan suggested the cam timing is off. I did not agree, as the engine ran great during hard acceleration.

Current Problem:After driving about 100 milesthe trans shifted into 3rd and 4th gear really hard. This problem was solved the first time with the replacement of the Throttle Position Sensor. Then when on theinterstate for about 5 minutes at 65mph, it began to lose power as if the air flow was being choked. It no longer runs at high speed and the passenger side exhaust glows red behind the catalytic converter after only a few minutes of running. I removed the idle air control valve, cleaned out the carbon and siliconed the mating surface. It improved the idle, but the other problems remain.

Sounds like a bad intake manifold gasket. Somewhat common on '98-99 3.2 v6. They are made of some kind of hard plastic and will crack. The torque spec has been lowered a couple times to help prevent them from cracking during install.

Thanks, Gizmo! I'll check out the manifold gasket.

proably does have intake gaskets broken causing lean exhaust codes, also have the exhaust system back pressure checked for restricted converter.no exhaust should ever glow red unless something is clogged or excessively lean running engine,
