92 Rodeo 4x4 front axle question, please help!
Helping an elderly neighbor get his four wheel drive working before winter sets in.
Had to replace both half shafts on the 92 Rodeo 4x4 front axle because idiot previous owner heard a noise and cut the shafts.
Turned out to be a bad hub bearing (missing, actually).
Installed new bearing with the shim and seal.
Went to put the manual locking hubs on, and there is not enough space for the snapring on the end of the axle shaft.
I know they came from the factory with auto hubs, and I'm wondering if that shim is screwing me up.
It appears to me that shim is the same distance I need to install the snaprings on both sides.
I also hope the seal will have enough freespace to allow the CV joint to set against the hub properly.
Anybody have any thoughts/feedback on this?
Many thanks.
Kev
