Hi all,

Does anyone have a diagram of the cam shaft timing alignment for a 6VD1 3.2L petrol engine?

I have two diagrams from different sources and they seem to clash.

It's a DOHC in a 1998 twin cab Rodeo LX.

Thanks in advance.

Yes this does help, a lot more detail than the crappy diagrams I've got.

I'll give it a crack in the next few days and let you know how I went.

Thanks again,

Still having trouble

I bit the bullet and bought a manual for the car. Aligned all the marks, put it back together and she idles like a dream.

When you try to drive it though, itis completely gutless (can't get over 40kph)and "pops" a little from the left hand bank at low revs(passenger side, the side we had apart). Sounds frigin horrible.

There is one thing we think we are doing wrong. In the manual it says that once the two cams on one bank are put into place that you need to rotate that bank until it "springs" into postion. It goes on to say that this can take upto 9 turns as the gear relationship is out-of-phase. We are not 100% what they mean by this.

Could someone post what your manual says about the cam shafts "springing" into position on the DOHC, as I think this is what we are doing wrong.

Thanks

Youv'e come up with the goods yet again! This is whatwe need!

Looks to me as we were "springing" one bank into the wrong position. we'll have another crack this weekend and I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks again for posting, this info is bloody hard to get hold of over here in Aus.
