I have a 99 Rodeo, about 132,000 miles on it. The problem(i think its a problem) is that when I start from a stop and when I come to a stop there is a very slight jerk, I'm assuming this is coming from the transmission but not sure. Also it seems to shift a little hard from 2nd to 3rd, but nothing horrible. This stuff is so small that you can really only notice it if your are the one driving, but I'm worried that its a sign that I'm going to have troubles in the future. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is this something that could be fixed by having the tranny fluid changed? I just bought this thing about a month ago, I'm really hoping I don't have any huge problems with it, anything you guys can tell me should help. Btw, the tranny was apparently replaced in 2005.

Common Problem with the Rodeo's (The thump when stopping/starting).

The clunk heard, on many 2nd generation Rodeo's, is due to wearing of
the grease in the driveshaft slip yoke. To correct this, the driveshaft
must be removed and regreased. I just live with it as I have heard of others re-greasing and it happens again.</span>

Well, if its not going to cause any major issues then I'll just live with it too. Its not that big of a deal.

Could possibly be the range sensor is dirty. HERE is a post on how to find and clean it. If it gets dirty enough the dash lights wont match what position the lever is actually in.

If you do get a fluid change just have it drained and filled or have the pans dropped, filter cleaned/replaced, then refilled. It will only replace part of the fluid at a time. Do not get a flush. That will knock loose all kinds of junk that will plug up the tiny ports in the trans and kill it.

I got this thump between 2 and 3rd gear.

I was so worried because I was 300 miles from home.

This happened a week after the trans fluid was service by jiffyLube.

After I got back in town I went to my mechanic and he added Lucas additive and found that it was a quarter of oil low.

This fixed my problem. This rodeo is a 99 and has 198.155 miles.

What I learn is not takemy rodeo to these quick lube places. They usually do not know about these tranys.

Or if you take it to those places you have to tell them how to do it.

1999 Isuzu Rodeo 4x4 Transmission removal

Hello, I am having trouble getting my tranny to drop out of my 99 isuzu rodeo. I'm pretty sure I have everything pulled off of it. Can anyone give me some insight? Does anyone have any pictures or videos I can look at? I've pulled it completely off but can't get it to drop down.

Think this may "save us all"

I still have a lot of "testing" to pinpoint my problem, but I found this and HAd to share it. Hope it helps. Good luck.
