Default 83-84 Imulse parts?

Hi.

I come here looking for help. I don't have an Isuzu. I have an Opel. Once upon a time Opel and Isuzu worked together making cars. I need a part from one of the Isuzus from that era, for my Opel. I hope coming here asking for such is not thought rude.

The Opel GTs that were sold in the US between 1969 and 1973 had a 3.44 rear end. The 83-84 Impulse had a 3.90 rear end, and the carrier and other internal bits bolted right in to a GT. I think you can see where this is going.

I race my GT in the 24 Hours of LeMons, and we kind of want to win, or at least do better, and the 15-16% increased wheel thrust a 3.9 rear end would give us would be the simplest and cheapest way to overcome our current low RPM issues.

I know that most Opelers have tons of parts laying around, as I do (four extra motors, an extra shell, extra glass, an extra rear end and front suspension, 6 spare transmissions, etc). I hoping that someone here has a similar Isuzu stash and can help me with my quest for a 3.9 rear end.

I've been scanning the Pic-n-Pulls of the world for a while and sadly when I think I have found a car I am told it has just gone to the scrapper. Sad for me, and for Isuzu lovers. I need to catch one sooner before it is turned into corn flakes and sent to China.

Anyway, can anyone help?

Thank, Mike

P.S. Google "Team Tinyvette". That's us.

Thanks for the reply.

Let me check with my Opel gurus to make sure the 85 diff will work. My understanding is that later models used a different setup and were not bolt-ons for the Opel. The LSD was specifically mentioned as not working for my application, as were rear ends from the turbocharged Impulses.

This is the article I read which prompted me to contact you. http://clubs.hemmings.com/oana/Newsletters/Oana66.pdf
I guess you can use a ton of stuff from these Impulses for an Opel. Check it out though. To tell you the truth i don't know if you'll ever come across a rear end from Impulse. there are not very many to begin with in north america. I can give the complete vehicle for 400. Clean AZ title and rust Free. the motor snapped a rod but the rest is excellent shape. Been in AZ its whole life. This is the non turbo model.
