I have a 2001 Rodeo and the trans light, cruise light and check eng light come on and the transmission jerks and shifts and the engine sometimes dies. I have been told to change the wiring harness or check it for bad splices. I have ordered the factory service manuals to get a good diagram. Can anyone help with this problem. Help I do not want to throw parts at this problem.

 

I ordered the factory service manual and discovered that the shift indicator switch on the trans is bad. Every system runs through the PCM. The PCM would not get a correct signal from the switch and made all this crazy stuff happen. Replaced switch and the rodeo is fixed. No wiring problems,no bad PCM.

 

Make sure that you have Denso spark plugs [img]smileys/smiley20.gif[/img] . Any other plug will cause this concern [img]smileys/smiley11.gif[/img] . If the plugs are correct then you have a wiring issue in the crank sensor circuit [img]smileys/smiley7.gif[/img] .

 

I fixed the problem .I had one broken wire inside the insulation that caused all the problems.It was in the main wiring harness from the computer to the engine. One wire caused all these problems!
