Good morning everyone,

I have a '96 Trooper S, and the "Rear ABS" light and the "Brake" lightare on(when starting, the light comes on for 2-3 secs, then goes out, then after about 30 secs, comes on again and stays on, along with the "brake" light"). I have disconnected, cleaned, and reconnected the connectors under the hood (under the master cylinder, and by the under-hood fuse box). The fuse is GOOD. Pulling the fuse simply results in the "Rear ABS" and "Brake" lights staying illuminated without "the 30 sec break" described above.

So, now I need to pull the rear wheels. What am I looking for? Are there obvious electrical connections? Obvious sensor adjustments? Is the ABS tone ring easily visible and checked? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm trying to avoid a trip to the dealer.

I know the "normal" braking system still works as usual. But I have to get the truck's annual inspection done month-after-next, and I fear that it might fail the safety inspection if the "Rear ABS" light is illuminated, even though the normal brakes work just fine. Thanks all!

David

i have the same problem with my 94 trooper. in texas, since it's not an OBD (On Board Diagnostic) inspection, it doesn't matter. i have cleaned the rear Abs sensors and done a complete brake job. the only thing i can figure out is maybe there's a glitch in the system.
