I have a 96 isuzu rodeo and i recently had a rear end accident and now my the glass for the tailgate will not open when i hit the button i am just wondering if knocked something loose or if i need a whole new tailgate.

It probably bent things enough to keep the latch from operating. If you are able to get it open somehow you might be able to bend it back so it works. Otherwise you will need a new talgate. put cloth on crowbar and pry glass alittle but probably will not help. you need to get tailgate pushed down to releave pressure.

You have to have the tailgate open to unbolt it. Not sure on '96 but on '99 you cant even take the inner panel off to try forcing things open with the tailgate closed. Might be worth it to take it to a body shop and see if they can just get it open without breaking the glass.
