hi,,took intake manifold off today to replace thermostat. in the "v" of the 2000,3.5 v6 trooper is appx a qt of coolant. could this be from disconnecting a coolant line or maybe waterpump? or worse? i thought thermostat was sticking, but,i'm thinking now something else may need to be fixed before it goes back together. thanks in advance

I am not personnaly familiar with your engine, but hope this helps get you started.

If you go to myisuzuparts.com and enter your vehicle info and then go to the illustration index, it appears that if your thermostat gasket is leaking the antifreeze could collect in the valley. Look at the illustration with coolant piping to see other areas where hoses may need to be inspected before you tear the engine down. It does not appear to me that replacing the intake gaskets will do you any good, but you should replace them if you have to remove the intake to get to the problem. Good luck.
