Hunting at Idle
#1
I just finished a complete overhaul on a '90 2WD Isuzu Pickup, 4EZ1 w/automatic for my grandson. Rather expensive for my taste though! I called myself going through and cleaning the intake and EGR system BUT, my idle is terrible. I set the timing @ 12 degrees BTDC, as per specs on hood, and the RPM @ 950. Cranks up and idles around 650, most of the time, and will hunt up to 1500. The timing will advance to 20-22degrees BTDC. I started working on VWs in '60 and integrated Japanese and Brisish cars in late '70s. This is the first time I've had a problem this bad since the EFI on the earlt type 3 VWs. I'm missing something somewhere....what is it? At 62, retired and disabled, my CRS may be catching up on me.
Thanks for the help..........

It seems that the new term for this problem is "Rev and Drop". Good, it seems to explain the problem a bit clearer. I understand that there are an assortment of solutions only a problem in finding the correct one. I'm determined not to succumb to the high dollar "scan check", unless it's the only solution.
.....Did the terminology change jar anyones "thinker" ???
