your opinion please

Hello everyone. I would like to get another opinion about my trooper. I have a '94 trooper, single cam...and have the infamous trooper tick, however, I think mine is a little more than most.
I've completed about all of the recommendations mentioned across the internet, various oil's, additives, fuel, you name it, I've done it. The truck is in real great shape, no rust, interior is spotless, gets great gas mileage, been on numerous road tips with no issues...and I'd like to keep it around at least a few more years.
My question, new motor? Who knows when this one is gonna take a nose dive. 170k miles....
I've read where people have done the 4.3 chevy vortec swap. Anyone have any more direct info on this...or you think I should just find another single cam motor and drop in there? Anything else I should try before yanking this motor out?
Thanks for your help.

Some engines just tick. My 2005 Toyota Tacoma ticked right out of the box. And everyone I test drove ticked. Some say it has something to do with the fuel injectors pulseing and not the lifters.
My '97 S10 Ticked and it was the idler pully, I replaced it and it still ticked.
Just take care of it watch the oil pressure and change the oil and keep oil in it. As far as thetick goes just turn up the radio.
Certianly wouldnt replace the engine just due to the tick.

You may need to go get that checked out!
That sounds a little excessive.
