92Trooper

Good Day!
I was wondering if anyone has experience with intermittent slip. I have a 92 Trooper LS. And every once in a while, sometimes more than others, the Check Transmission Light comes on and then goes into some strange mode whereby it takes high RPM to get going and feels like it is slipping. I guess it's feels like it is in Winter Mode.
To correct it, I simply, turn off the ignition, which I guessresets something and everything is ok for a while.
Thanks,

the only problem that we have experienced, is a load "clunking" noise and jerk, when auto trans down shifts at stops?
anyone have similar problem.
oh yeah ours is a "rodeo" hope that will work here?

I have a 91
trooper that does the same thing as 92trooper. When the
transmission light comes on i have to either turn off the car and turn
it back on or go through the gears like you would with a manual
transmission, I have tried to use some stop slip stuff for
trnasmissions but that does not work.
Any ideas?

hi ive got a 92 trooper and i get the same prob, in some cases its the alternator belt, try tightening it up and putting some degreaser onto it and giving it a good clean this will stop it slipping or it could be your alternator that needs replacing

have a 91 trooper that does the same thing as 92trooper. When the transmission light comes on i have to either turn off or let it run idle to let the trans cool down.the car (http://www.isuzuforums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1&KW=trans#) and turn it back on or go through the gears like you would with a manual transmission, I have tried to use some stop slip stuff for trnasmissions but that does not work. and i just changed the oil to day and still runs hot so the light comes on and trans slips how do i fix it e mail me at acncarlos@yahoo.com ok aloha

WHEN THE TRANS LIGHT COMES ON THE CONTROL MODULE GOES INTO A BACK UP MODE TO PROTECT THE TRANS. YOU ALL NEED TO GET THE CODE DIAG TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.ALOT OF TIMES ITS A LOSS OF RPM SIGNAL EITHER A IGNITION MODULE OR THE TCM.TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE.ADDING ADDITIVES WONT CORRECT ANYTHING.TAKE IT TO A DEALER OR A GOOD SHOP THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO AT LEAST PULL CODE OUT OF IT. A DEALERSHIP CAN DIAG IT FOR YOU.THIS PROBLEM ESP OCCURS WITH THE 3.1L G.M. V6Edited by: ISUZUGURU

You may need a new computer module for your trans.

I fixed the problem with my 91 trooper with a new TCM, I also found out that the transmission light will also come on when your alternator is going bad.

about the clunking noise. there is a bulletin from the dealer stating that when the auto tranny is downshifting the band apply solinoid needs to be replaced. hope this helps

I recently had the shift sensor "B" replaced on my 2001 trooper. I was taking high RPM''s to advance. The transmission will shift to 3rd so you can still get it to a shop or off the road...Cost me about $200

Ihave a 97 trooper 3.2L auto. When i bought it it was missing some transmission mounts and when i would go form a dead stop the whole car would shake and lurch forward. After i got the mounts put in it was alright for awhile. now its starting to shake and lurch again when im starting off. Edited by: gamuddin18
